The music is pounding into my head, my arms, my whole body. Well ... not the actual music, it is actually the amp that I am crouching beside that keeps thumping into my body. It's the price my body needs to pay to snap that picture that is 'just right.' It's worth it though. How else can I get 2 feet away from all the local Burlington bands and get front-front row seats? Though I may have reduced hearing for a day or so after the chest-thumping beats and screaming melodies are scorched into my eardrums, I love every minute of the music, the show, the band, the people and the atmosphere.
My name is Jason Matos. Coming out of Waterdown, I have been in the Burlington Music scene for the last 2 years, starting off as a local attendee at shows I eventually dived into the world of photography and was captured by it's brilliance. A year ago I ventured into band & concert photography and I have been shooting locally ever since. I have been shooting away from the concert scene for the last 2 months but I am heading back into that direction with the assistance of this blog.
This is the start of a new blog. A different kind of blog. It's meant to let you know what the latest on the Burlington music scene. It's one of the best you know, the Burlington music scene. Burlington is a city that has unleashed countless great bands into the GTA and into the world including Silverstein, the Reason, Boys Night Out, Dead and Divine, Sydney and hosts up and coming bands such as Fighting Folly, Japan'd, Forever Breathing, and many, many more. Every weekend there is a show that promises to entertain and impress. We have the best venues, the best co-ordinators and the best volunteers that make the shows happen.
Find out where the shows are being held, what time, cost and day. Missed a concert? Want to know how it went? Need to see some pictures? No problem - just check out this blog for the latest.
Until next time,
Jason Matos
You are right about the part of shows in Burlington and the great venues and music. Just last year I started getting into Burlington music, but now I've dove head first into the scene. Burlington has produced some amazing bands. Japaned is a huge example of this. I first saw them a while ago at the Underground and I'm a huge fan now. If you don't already know about these bands you should check them out, The Stickup, Beautiful Nothing and My Own Devices. Just a few examples of the great Burlington bands! nice post!
