Yardbirds

Howdy Folks...

Thanks for the kind words. I feel honoured being in the company of Gord and Dave too.

Yes, the Yardbirds show was something else. The Corktown had a few problems with the air-conditioning, and our repairman was not going to be able to fix the unit before the Yardbirds show. Part of the problem was locating a part to install. So, that horrific heatwave in mid July started on the 13th, the same day as the Yardbirds show.

I called the Yardbirds road manager early int the norming, and informed him that they would be coming into a warm room, and he handled it cool and told us to make sure that we had plenty of cold water and a few fans for the stage.

Well, there were close to 250 fans that were patient and were not bothered by the heat.

Part of the beauty of being a booker is that you get to meet a lot of these great artists, and I was nervous as hell when it came to speaking with Chris Dreja, and Jim McCarthy. They were very kind men who shared some great stories about their career.

I was doing some googling prior to their show, and it is amazing to see how many bands namedrop the Yardbirds as their major musical influence.

They are the epitome of a Cult Status band!

Graham, you were at the show. Did you take a peek at all those vinyl collectors, and all those juicy pieces that are no longer available?

Kudos also to Joe Mavety (Marianne Faithfull's former guitar player), and Hamilton's own, Ride Theory for warming up the stage for the Yardbirds.

Back to all of you!!!
